A caged IBC tote is a blow-molded HDPE bottle inside a galvanized steel cage on a pallet base, usually holding 275 or 330 gallons. Reconditioned totes are cleaned, inspected, and refitted so they can be used again.

A reconditioned IBC isn’t necessarily a downgrade.
A new caged tote means a new HDPE bottle, a new steel cage, and a new pallet base, all manufactured and shipped to its first user.
A reconditioned tote reuses the cage and base, and often the bottle, after cleaning, inspection, and replacement of worn parts. Same nominal volume, for jobs where a previously used container is acceptable.
Reusing a tote avoids manufacturing a new one. Whether a reconditioned tote suits your product depends on its prior contents and grade, so ask the supplier before you buy.

Can reconditioned IBC totes be used for food?
Some can. Food use depends on what the tote held before, how it was cleaned, and whether the bottle was replaced. Ask the partner supplier for the tote’s prior contents and grade, and check current food-contact regulations for your product.
I have a few used totes sitting around. Can someone take them?
Send a request with the quantity, condition, prior contents, and location. Partner suppliers in our network may offer to buy them, collect them, or route them to recycling, depending on their condition and where you are.
Why choose a used IBC tote instead of new?
Reusing a tote avoids manufacturing a new one, and reconditioned totes are often less expensive than new. New totes make sense when your application calls for a never-used bottle. Partner suppliers can quote both.
